Caregivers have a very important job, one that’s not always easy. These people go into homes, nursing facilities, and assisted living complexes to help elderly people. Often, as individuals age, they can get a little bit persnickety. That means they’re sometimes hard to deal with.
Providing a necessary service
Caregivers do a lot of things for elderly people. In addition to overseeing their medications, they help older individuals with bathing, dressing, brushing their teeth, and in some instances, cooking. They change sheets, empty bedpans, and the list goes on. Those who are good at their job make a huge difference in an elderly person’s life.
There’s a downside
Unfortunately, some caregivers do this kind of work just to get a paycheck. In other words, they perform the minimum duties required and don’t really invest themselves. Sadly, the person they’re looking after doesn’t get much human interaction from a mental standpoint.
The exception
The good news…some caregivers give 100 percent all the time. They genuinely enjoy working with older patients and want to do everything they can to make those people’s lives better. That’s one young man’s story.
First day on the job
For this guy, it was his first day working as a caregiver. But in his mind, he wanted to make things fun and exciting for the elderly people he helped. He didn’t want to be like so many others but different…better. And that’s exactly what he did.
An aging grandmother
In a video that’s now been seen by thousands of viewers, this caregiver did something spectacular. He danced. He pulled out some impressive moves that are a blast to watch.
But then something happened
As he continues to bust out moves, which are really good by the way, the woman responds. In the video, you can see this grandmother sitting in a special chair for her safety. Even while sitting there in her nightgown, she immediately responds.
She starts dancing too
Even sitting down, she’s hopping up and down and waving her arms while this young caregiver dances. The two of them are having fun. We don’t know for sure, but we’re betting this is the first time in years that’s she’s danced.
Fun and heartwarming
Watching the video, you can’t help but smile. Seeing this grandmother “dancing” with her young caregiver is about as good as it gets. She’s one lucky woman. She could’ve had someone who did the minimum but instead, she got this guy.
Oh no, he didn’t
As you hear the words to the song, “Do you feel me,” this young man reaches over and snatches the wig off his patient’s head. He then puts it on his head. She doesn’t care in the least. After all, she’s having way too much fun.
The laughter begins
As he’s dancing around with her wig on his head, the woman says, “Oh, dear.” She then starts to laugh. She’s not just chuckling but really laughing. She probably hasn’t had this much fun or been entertained more in a very long time.
Kudos to this young caregiver. If this was only his first day on the job, we can only imagine what he’ll be up to next. The one thing we’re certain of, his patients are so fortunate.
