What would you do if you saw a car drifting down the highway while the driver is unconscious? Would you call 911? Would you start recording on your phone? Or would you do what you could to help?

This exact scenario happened in Atlanta, Georgia, on a Sunday in July 2021. Instead of waiting for someone to do something, a group of bystanders jumped into action to save the driver who was having a medical emergency.

Pastor Qua Tucker was on his way home from church when he stopped to help. Jourdin Carter and Jelani Campbell were also among the bystanders that exited their cars on the highway to assist.

“I looked over to the right, and I saw an older guy driving his car,” Juordin Carter told a news outlet, “But he was leaned over. He had passed out.”

When the truck finally stopped, the group of people tried to get the driver to roll down his window, but he was unresponsive, so they did what they could to get to him.

They tried to break a window using a sledgehammer, a baby stroller, and whatever else they could get their hands on.

The video shows that the front passenger window would not break no matter how hard they tried. Even with the sledgehammer, the window wouldn’t crack.

You can see how desperate this group of people are as they try everything they can.

Finally, they were able to break in the rear window, which allowed one of the men to crawl in and unlock the door.

“I immediately got on the truck, started kicking the rest of the windshield down,” Campbell said. “That is when I slid in and unlocked the door.”

Once they were able to get to the man care stayed with the driver. “I just stayed with him and made sure that he was OK and told him to keep his eyes open,” said Carter.

He was also able to call the driver’s wife to tell her what was happening and that he was getting help from paramedics.

Thanks to the help of the bystanders and paramedics, the driver was able to get the assistance he needed and has been recovering well.

When people are more divided than ever, viewers of the video say how nice it is to see people come together to help someone.

However, when the video first started making its rounds on the internet, people assumed the worst, thinking it was a case of road rage. But that just wasn’t the case.

“It brought joy to my heart to see people who did not even know each other to come together,” pastor Tucker told reporters. “Felt good to see people, strangers rather regardless of race, sexuality, politics, political views or what, now come together to help someone else.”
