It is inevitable for parents to worry about their kids after they drop them off at school.

While they are away from them, it’s normal for them to think about their safety.

This is because accidents can happen anytime.

Thankfully, the government has guidelines and approaches to uphold school safety.

These apply both inside as well as outside the school’s premises.

School buses are also part of it.

Aside from the government, students, and schools, the public is also expected to do their part.

And that is by abiding by the safety regulations that apply to school buses.

Because if not, unwanted incidents can occur.

A seventh-grade student in Ohio nearly experienced this.

He was ready to exit the bus without knowing that a car was approaching.

In a matter of seconds, the car could have hit him.

Thankfully, the school bus driver was vigilant.

She is April Wise, a bus driver at Tecumseh Local Schools.

She stopped the car to drop off the kid, but she immediately observed that a vehicle was headed their way.

Therefore, she knew she needed to stop the student from going off the bus as soon as she could.

She promptly pulled the student when she noticed the approaching car in the mirror.

She was so fast that she was able to save the kid from being harmed by the car.

That’s why she deserves to be hailed as a hero.

Special recognition for the hero

The abovementioned school earlier shared that they honored April’s heroic act.

The school’s administrators, state representatives, law enforcement, and the student’s parents gathered together to express their gratitude to April.

Not only that, but some people on social media also praised April.

Here are some of their comments about her:

“Thank you for a job well done & being a great example for others!”

“We are a very blessed community.”

“So thankful for our bus drivers.”

April was emotional about being honored for her bravery.

But more than the recognition, April is more focused on raising awareness among her fellow drivers.

She wants her story to be a reminder to others to drive more cautiously, especially around school buses.

“This goes far beyond what I imagined to happen, so I am very emotional,” she told WCSC.

“I don’t deserve it, but I’m glad it’s bringing awareness and stuff. Hopefully, more people will take it into consideration,” she added.

She was right.

From her experiences, April claimed that some drivers tend to ignore school buses on the road.

And we are all aware of the dangers they pose.

Observing the rules on school buses is therefore extremely important.

Driving responsibly can save lives.

Slowing down won’t take much of your time, but it can make a significant contribution to the students’ safety.

By obeying school bus signs, you are actually saving a life.

And people like April deserve praise for not holding back when it comes to protecting children.

Hopefully, many people will be able to watch her story as it’s an inspiration and a great reminder at the same time.
