Kevin Taylor embraced this opportunity wholeheartedly, revealing a secret to his bride, Kim Didway, that left her in tears.
About 20 years ago, Kevin suffered a leg injury, leading to a diagnosis of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), a nerve disorder characterized by pain and swelling.
His case was so severe that doctors deemed it the worst they’d encountered, resulting in frequent hospital visits.
Ultimately, they couldn’t save his leg.
Despite this life-altering event, Kevin remained spirited, embracing life with zest and humor.
Speaking to FOX 34, he shared his optimistic outlook: “It can always be worse.”
Grateful for his life, Kevin was ready to find love.
Enter Kim Didway, who captured Kevin’s heart instantly.
He admired her for seeing beyond his wheelchair, for looking at him and not his disability.
“She looks at me as if I’m not in a wheelchair. I mean, she looks past that point,” Kevin expressed.
Their love was evident to all.
When asked about Kevin, Kim’s response was heartwarming: “It didn’t bother me because it’s the person inside, not who they are physically. And his heart makes up for any lack of limb that he has.”
The couple soon decided to take the plunge and get married.
The wedding was set in a picturesque winery, with everyone eagerly anticipating the big day.
Little did Kim know, Kevin had a surprise up his sleeve, a secret he’d been keeping from her.
Kevin had been secretly attending physical therapy sessions, learning to stand and walk on his own.
As Kim walked down the aisle, everyone rose to their feet, but the biggest surprise was yet to come.
Kim’s eyes filled with tears as she witnessed Kevin, using a prosthesis, stand and walk towards her.
It was a moment of pure emotion, with guests clapping and wiping away tears.
