Marriage isn’t just about marrying the person you love. It’s also about accepting that you have another family that will be a part of your life.
Michael and Kelsey from Alabama decided to tie the knot last November.
However, Michael was clueless that his wife-to-be had planned a surprise for him and his family.

While Kelsey was saying her vows, she did something that surprised everyone.
Michael’s eyes widened as he saw his bride translating her vows into American Sign Language.
Kelsey’s gesture was both unexpected and touching.

The radiant bride decided to do this for Michael’s parents. Both of the groom’s parents are deaf, so he grew up learning how to communicate with them through ASL.
However, Kelsey said that she was not fluent in ASL.
Although, she tries her best to communicate with her inlaws using the basic ASL language that she knows.

“I wanted to sign my vows out of respect for Michael and his parents,” Kelsey told Southern Living. “While we did have an interpreter for the ceremony, I wanted my vows to be coming directly from me, not only by word of mouth but also through ASL so that all were able to understand and know what I was saying.”
As Kelsey recalled, when she and Michael got engaged, she already told him about the idea of signing her vows.
Michael loved the idea and thought that his parents would really appreciate that.

Kelsey found the answer she was looking for, so she proceeded to the next step – never talk about it so her fiancé would forget, and he did.
That’s how this effort became a surprise.
At first, Kelsey tried to translate her vows to ASL using an online translator, but she was worried that she might sign them wrong.
She had another idea!

Kelsey contacted Michael’s aunt, who can hear but is also fluent in ASL because her husband, Michael’s uncle, was also deaf.
“I asked her to record herself signing my vows and send it to me so I could use it to practice,” Kelsey continued her story. “She happily did so, and I used that video to practice over and over for weeks.”
Kelsey practiced her ASL vows, and she felt excited about her wedding.

Aside from Michael’s aunt, Kelsey talked to their videographer so he could capture the special moment of her signing her vows.
He did, and he also caught Michael’s reaction once he saw what Kelsey did.
They shared the clip on TikTok, and of course, it went viral.

When the handsome groom realized what was happening, he smiled and cried.
According to him, he felt very touched and emotional.
Who wouldn’t? Kelsey thought of her in-laws on this special occasion. She practiced and wanted to do this for them and for her husband.
Michael’s parents were also very happy with this surprise.

Now, Kelsey is officially a member of the Kulicks, and she has proven how much love and respect she has for her new family.
