Taking care of others is a good thing, and a lot of us moms are quite skilled at it. However, sometimes it can feel like everyone else is on the top-priority list but ourselves.

68-year-old Brenda is a grandmother from Salt Lake City who’s always been a stay-at-home caregiver for her family. While she feels “fortunate” about the role – she finally reached the point of wanting to put some more focus on herself. Gasp!

Getting a makeover is the perfect activity for anyone in need of a “ME” experience. For Brenda, she decided to pull out all the stops and head to the one and only Makeover Guy!

Christoper Hopkins (aka The Makeover Guy) is a renowned stylist with a posh salon in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has a gift for helping people become the best version of themselves and gain confidence – all through his talents in the beauty department.

Christopher’s TV transformations have been applauded since 1990 and he’s also the author of Staging Your Comeback: A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45. He specializes in working with “older” clients who aren’t happy with their appearance – helping them look fabulous while bringing out their inner-youth.

Perhaps you remember when Christopher would appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show as a guest stylist. If not, here’s a little blast from the past!

Brenda had spent her life caring for her children, husband, and even her grandchildren. But as she put it, “Now it’s time to take care of me!”

She walked into MAKEOVERGUY Appearance Studios with long hair that was graying at the roots. While a lot of women would sacrifice anything to grow their locks long – Brenda was done with hers. She’d worn it the same since graduating high school (50 years ago), and although people told her it was “pretty,” she disagreed. In fact, she admitted it had been like a “security blanket.”

Some clients that visit Christopher can be timid when it comes to taking on a “dramatic” new look. On the other hand, there are women like Brenda that are ready for anything.

During her before-interview, she explained that she was “open” for it all (makeup, haircut, new color). Let’s face it, that makes it even more fun for us viewers at home too!

Most importantly, Brenda was ready to do something for herself. She explained:

“We put ourselves last on the list…decided I could bump myself up!”

After a day at the Makeover Guy’s salon, Brenda is like a brand new woman.

When it reaches the reveal it’s almost like looking at a completely different person! Instead of having long locks, she has a short wavy style that’s a beautiful shade of blonde. With a glamorous face of makeup, Brenda looks younger, brighter, and her self-confidence is shining through.

According to the How Stuff Works website, approximately 7% of women in the U.S. colored their hair in the 50s. Interestingly, that number’s grown to approximately 75%!

Another viewer wrote:

“She’s exactly the kind of giving person we love to see get treated for once. Wow! She came to life!”
