A female dog was abandoned allegedly because she was unable to have any more puppies. Thankfully, some guardian angels nursed her back to health, hoping to give her the life she has always deserved.

This is Glynis, a Shar Pei who was used as a ‘breeding machine’ for 9-10 years of her life.

Rescue Remedies, a UK-based animal rescue charity, took Glynis in after being contacted by an inspector, Rachel Smith, from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). Smith, who had worked Glynis’ case, was appalled by the staggering amount of abuse that she had been forced to endure.

“This poor dog was extremely skinny, had an eye infection, unbelievably overgrown nails and a life-threatening infection in her uterus called pyometra,” said Smith in her press release.

When she was first rescued, Glynis couldn’t even walk due to the overgrown state of her nails, which were embedded into the pads of her paws.

Clearly, no one had been caring for her and had been severely neglecting her basic health.

Due to years of neglect, Glynis was painfully malnourished and dehydrated.

She also had almost no muscles on the back of her legs caused by a lack of exercise or even space to roam. Additionally, Glynis was in need of major dental work and developed a condition called entropion, where her eyelids had folded over, scratching her eyes.

Despite spending nearly her entire life abused and neglected, Glynis showed her rescuers that she still could trust and love people.

The staff was amazed at how easily Glynis adapted to being around people and blossomed under their constant affection. Thankfully, Glynis is recovering with a foster family where she continues to grow stronger every day.

However, Glynis is still looking for her forever home.

If you or anyone you know would be willing to let Glynis into your heart and home, be sure to share this story and check out her adoption profile here. Our best wishes go out to Glynis in her search and we hope that she finally gets the love she has always deserved.

The RSPCA is still searching for Glynis’ abusers, hoping to bring them to justice. If you know of any animal abuse happening in your area, be sure to contact your local police and animal control. You never know who you might be saving from a terrible life.
