Even if the world can seem like a negative place, sometimes all you need is an act of kindness to brighten your day. Here lies a story that helps prove the point.
Kimberly Clark Stone from Burleson, Texas was standing in line at her local Chick-fil-A when a group of police officers came in behind her. Suddenly, a little boy approached with a question for the cops she just couldn’t ignore.
The seven-year-old named Wyatt had one request for the officers. He wanted to know if he could ‘pray over them.’
After the group of officers agreed, Wyatt grabbed two of them by the hand and began to say a prayer. As Stone recalls, it was the “sweetest prayer” she’s ever heard.
Understandably, she was in awe watching the scene unfold in front of her eyes. Stone quickly snapped a photo of the beautiful moment – which has now gone viral with more than 155,000 shares.
In her Facebook post, Stone described what she witnessed in the fast-food restaurant that flooded her with emotions.
She wrote:
“He thanked the Lord for calling them to be police officers and asked for the Lord to protect them while they were busy protecting people. This brought tears to my eyes. I am thankful for kids like this and parents that encourage it.”
As it turns out, this isn’t the first time that young Wyatt has prayed for strangers in public.
His mom, Jessa Cox, explained to The Western Journal how it’s actually common in their family.
“My husband Keith and I try and model what it means to really walk out our faith. And one of the ways we do that is to pray for people, this was not a one time occurrence. I have seen my son pray for people many many times, and we have done that as a family as well.”
The officers captured in the photo work for the Burleson Police Department. Lauren Lyman is the wife of the one on the furthest right.
She too communicated with The Western Journal, saying:
“My initial reaction was a slew of emotions: Pride. Gratitude. Shock. Who is this kid so I can hug him?!”
It’s not surprising that Lyman was completely amazed and grateful to Wyatt – whose comforting act lifted all of their spirits. She explained:
“We live in a world where my husband and his brothers in blue are hated and condescended more than they are loved and respected. I expect for him to come home and tell me about the good, bad, and the ugly of his day. Most days, his stories are about the bad and the ugly. Thursday, his story was all good. That sweet boy put JOY in a place where it’s rarely found.”
After the photo began spreading like wildfire, Wyatt’s proud mom left a comment on Facebook about how appreciative she was that others had seen it too.
Cox wrote:
“And I just truly believe that the Lord is putting this photo in front of the eyes that are meant to see it. And even if out of these thousands and thousands of people… one heart is truly changed for HIS glory than it is all worth it… thank you thank you thank you.”
It goes to show that love, faith, and kindness can change the course of someone’s day. But oftentimes, it can go even further than that. Surely, Wyatt will continue to inspire others throughout his life – even if it’s a simple act in a fast-food restaurant.
