The first day of school is quite unnerving for most children. They’re faced with new teachers, new students, and whether or not they’ll fit in or make friends.

Plus, it’s likely that they’re going to be missing their parents a lot.

Out of all the students heading back to school, some of those students are bound to have a meltdown.

A little boy named Connor Crites, 8, was having a rough time on his first day at Minneha Elementary School.

He had a little meltdown and started to cry.

But thanks to the kindness of a fellow student, that meltdown was short-lived.

Eight-year-old Christian Moore saw that his fellow schoolmate was upset and decided he had to do something about it.

So, he reached for Connor’s hand and held it to comfort him.

He then walked his new friend to the front door of the school. Now they are besties.

“He was kind to me. I was in the 1st day of school and I started crying then he helped me and I was happy,” Connor told KAKE ABC. “He found me and held my hand and I got happy tears.”

Christian’s mom said she witnessed the entire thing and snapped a photo.

“I saw him on the ground with Connor as Connor was crying in the corner and he was consoling him. He grabs his hand and walks him to the front door. We waited until the bell rang and he walked him inside of the school. The rest is history. They have an inseparable bond,” Courtney Moore said.

Christian had no idea that Connor is autistic. That’s why he was having such a rough time, he was overwhelmed with everything that was going on around him.

Connor’s mom, April Crites, says she was overjoyed that her son found a friend. Especially one that is so kind.

“I fear everyday that someone is going to laugh at him because he doesn’t speak correctly, or laugh at him because he doesn’t sit still or because he jumps up and down and flaps his hands,” she said. “That’s all I can ask for, is someone to be open to him like that. I’m so happy that something so positive is coming from all this, that my son got a friend. And, hopefully a friend for life.”

But the fact that Connor might be different never even occurred to Christian.

He just saw a little boy just like him who needed a friend.

“Thank you so much ma’am for raising such a wonderful child. More parents need to teach their children how to be compassionate,” Connor’s grandmother said, according to BET.

The photo and story about Christian’s kind deed went viral on Facebook.

Now thousands of people are inspired by the boy’s act of kindness.

“It doesn’t matter, you know, color. It doesn’t matter, gender. It doesn’t matter, disability,” Connor’s mom said. “Just be kind. Open your heart. And, that’s what we need in this world.”

“One act of kindness, you know, can change someone’s life,” Christian’s mom said.
