This isn’t a scene from a thriller novel, but a real-life drama that unfolded under the watchful eye of a neighbor’s security camera.
The young man, in a desperate attempt to shake off the police, chose to hide in the closest place he could think of.
The day was a scorcher, with temperatures hitting 90 degrees, but the heat was the least of the 14-year-old’s concerns.
He huddled in the trash can, hidden from prying eyes, for a nerve-wracking thirty minutes.
The officer even walked by the cans looking for the kid, but couldn’t find him.
After what must have felt like an eternity, the boy finally gathered the courage to lift the lid of his makeshift sanctuary.
He scanned his surroundings, ensuring he was alone, before stepping out.
He walked a few steps, then broke into a run, leaving his hideout behind.
Zach Pierce, the homeowner, was an unsuspecting witness to this head-scratching scene.
At home with his baby, he watched the drama unfold, initially mistaking it for a game of hide-and-seek.
But as the reality of the situation dawned on him, he realized that the trash can was more than just a hiding spot – the youngster was trying to escape the law.
Zach knew something more about the can that the kid soon found out.
Here’s the kicker – it wasn’t just your ordinary trash can.
Sure, most garbage cans have some kind of foul stench to them, but this one was on another level.
Pierce later shared the grim contents of the trash can – a nauseating mix of baby diapers and used cat litter.
The smell was gut-wrenching, amplified by the heat, which would be punishing, to say the least!
The smell was so potent that it hung in the air, detectable from a distance of ten feet.
So the fact that the boy had to sit in that kind of filth while trying to avoid the police, well, that’s a nice dose of karma for ya!

But as fate would have it, his efforts were in vain.
Despite his daring escape and the extreme measures he took, the boy was apprehended by the police an hour later.

The police in Bend, Oregon, revealed that the boy was wanted for theft.
