In today’s busy world, it can be hard enough to find a friend willing to do you a favor— never mind a complete stranger.

It’s not that it’s unreasonable— people are busy with their own lives, and sometimes it’s hard enough to just get by.

But despite all the reasons not to help someone, on August 18th, 2017, Brian Smith decided to make a difference.

Brian took to Facebook to chronicle the event which had occurred earlier that day.

He described how he was woken up that morning by a banging on the door. Not knowing what was going on, he answered it, seeing a young man that he had never met before.

The young man tells Brian that he has missed his bus to school and has been knocking on doors, looking for a ride. Instead of turning the young boy away, however, Brian is pleased to help.

The good Samaritan writes, “My response SAY NO MORE FAM… DIDNT EVEN BRUSH MY TEETH just grabbed my keys.”

According to Communities In Schools, not having a safe, reliable way to school is a big factor contributing towards absenteeism.

Thanks to Brian’s kind deed, however, this young man definitely attended his classes that day— and there’s even a picture to prove it!

Alongside the photograph, Brian writes, “GO GET THAT EDUCATION YOUNG BROTHA!!! THIS IS WHAT A BIG HOMIE DOES FOR YOUNG BROTHAS…,” hashtagging the caption with #RealOG and #TheYouthTheFuture.

Since being posted only THREE days ago (at the time of this writing), Brian’s post has been shared over 135,000 times and has garnered over 22,000 comments.

People love the fact that Brian went out his way to help a stranger— especially in regards to something as important as an education.

They write:

Since going viral, Brian has been getting a lot of attention. Less than 24 hours after his original post, he updated Facebook friends, saying how he doesn’t take any of the messages in his inbox for granted.

“[I] have responded to EVERY SINGLE ONE!!” he writes.

In particular, Brian says he has been receiving a ton of messages from kids who are sharing stories about missing the bus.

“I just wanna travel now, it’s so many different vibes in my inbox now! It’s ALL LOVE!”

When it comes down to it, people love the fact that Brian took the time to help a “young brotha” out— especially at a time when no one else would.

If more people acted like Brian, I think the world would definitely be a better place!
