Vlogger Carolar Acosta has been helping women and men feel better about their bodies since January 2015.
Known as “Killadamente,” Carolar teaches self-love through the video she posts on YouTube and Instagram.
“I help people to love themselves as they are. I do not have a perfect body, but there is also the personality,” Carolar, who started her vlog when she was a teenager, told Ul Universo.
Carolar recently went far above and beyond just posting a video for her fans. She decided to shave her head after a 12-year-old girl with cancer emailed her saying she felt “ugly” now that she had lost all her hair.
Here’s what the email said, according to Revelist:
“Killada, about a year ago I learned to love myself, regardless of what others may think of me. A few months ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had learned to love myself thanks to your videos, but now I am too skinny and bald. I feel so ugly, I just want to die. Hopefully one day you will answer my message.”
Carolar was heartbroken over the email and knew she had to do something to show her young fan that true beauty comes within.
So, she grabbed an electric razor and shaved her head on camera.
“First of all, you don’t need this [hair] to be pretty,” she said. “What makes us beautiful is how we are on the inside and how much we can love each other. Those things cannot be seen on the outside.”
It was a beautiful and powerful moment that was captured on video and Carolar wasn’t kidding. She is a truly beautiful soul, with or without hair.
“This ladies and gentlemen, is an example to follow, it is the reflection of what we call humanity, humility, with this act that has just shown us that it is important to be cute inside, it does not matter if you are nice on the outside if you are ugly inside, with these words said I realized that @ killadamente is a person who is beautiful inside and outside, I hope the girl recovers,” wrote one commenter on Instagram.
Carolar went even farther in her efforts to help by creating a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for several charities that benefit children with cancer, including her young fan.
“Let’s help children with Cancer! My goal is to save lives to provide all my support and give all the love we need in this world without limits,” the campaign reads.
So far the campaign has raised $6,124 of its $100,000 goal. Watch the video of Carolar shaving your head below.
