It’s often said that dogs are “man’s best friend”, and a whole lot of canine four-footers manage to prove that saying over and over again. There is no other animal out there with as much loyalty to their human owners or sometimes even complete strangers. Most dog breeds are very protective in their nature and will do their absolute best to keep others safe, often with disregard for their own safety.
Two pooches from Nepal spotted an elderly woman who was laying by the river, and they decided to investigate.
The whole story started when a man named Ake Srisuwan posted pictures of the two four-footers on his Facebook page, along with a picture of them and the senior woman they approached. In the first picture, which went viral on the internet, we see one of the two stray dogs who seems to be caring for the woman near the river. In the second photo, we see the environment more clearly and can also spot the second dog keeping an eye on his friend and the elderly woman.
Apparently, the elderly woman wasn’t doing too well. She was blind and was still sleeping when the dogs found her but she was clearly disoriented.
Her clothes were dirty and covered with mud, and it just seemed that this elderly lady was in a peculiar situation and needed some help. To outsiders, it just seems like these two dogs are keeping the woman company, but they were actually guarding her! The two strays wanted to keep her safe and protect her from potential threats, and Ake was completely stunned when he realized what was going on.
When the photos went viral in the country, the story of this elderly woman actually attracted attention from the local authorities.
All of the people who commented on the Facebook post did so in sympathy for the blind woman, and some of them also praised the amazing efforts by these two stray dogs, who didn’t want to abandon her. It even managed to spread internationally as well.
After more than 750 reactions on Facebook, authorities did their best to find the woman as well as the two dogs.
According to a local news website, both the woman and the two pooches were taken to a local medical facility where they received treatment and help.
Unfortunately, not much is known about the current condition of the woman or the two dogs, although it’s comforting to hear that they received medical assistance. This story also proves once again just how loyal dogs are and act as natural guardians, even to people they don’t know. When they see someone in need, you’ll likely witness dogs’ unwavering loyalty.
“Protectiveness comes from a dog’s wolf ancestors and centuries of breeding, which means that dogs instinctively know when a human child is in need of care,” Scottsdale Pet Hotel writes about the loyalty of dogs.
If you show kindness, dogs will never abandon their human owners and often guard them with their lives.
