What would you do to help reunite someone with the one they love?

Zach Holt drove for 26 hours.

Ikea Mosley was a stranger to him, but he still drove from Ridgely, Maryland, to Wichita, Kansas, to return her dog to her.

Mosley said her then-boyfriend went on a trip to Maryland and took Zimba with him.

But she and her boyfriend ended up breaking up before he returned.

So, he abandoned the dog out of spite and refused to take her calls to tell her where the dog was.

Thankfully, Zimba was found and brought to safety by Caroline County Humane Society in Ridgely, Maryland.

They were able to scan Zimba’s microchip and contact Mosley.

But reuniting mom with her dog wouldn’t be as easy as they thought because Mosley lived more than 1000 miles away in Kansas.

Mosley could not travel the distance since she had children and also had to work.

The shelter reached local airline companies but couldn’t find a working solution.

The shelter where Zimba was originally adopted from couldn’t help either.

But when Holt, a bartender and former humane society worker, heard about Mosley’s story from his girlfriend, who works at the humane society, he wanted to help.

So, he offered to drive Zimba to Kansas himself.

It was a 26-hour and 1,300-mile trip.

“Fifty miles to the gallon. I’ve actually taken a trip to North Dakota to Maryland this year so, that kind of gave me the confidence to do it but — no hesitation,” said Holt.

Mosley said she couldn’t have been more thankful to Holt for taking the ride and bringing Zimba home.

“I’m very truly blessed that Zach brought him back to me. I’m a single mom, so I wasn’t able to get away from work to get to him. If I could have, I would have drove all the way to get him,” said Mosley.

Holt said it was 100 percent worth seeing Zimba back with the family who loves him.

The story of Holt’s act of kindness ended up going viral.

He and the shelter have gotten lots of love and support sent their way.

Though Holt paid for all of the gas and tolls himself, the human society raised some money so that his expenses would be covered.

The Caroline County Humane Society is calling Holt their “hero.”

All of their supporters also applauded him and thanked him for helping to bring this doggy back home.

Some even wanted to know if he was single.

“Very proud of you Zack you’re a good man. Thanks for standing up when others couldn’t or wouldn’t,” one commenter wrote on Facebook.

“This is an incredible act of humanity! Safe travels Zach & Zimba. You are truly an angel, Zach!” said another.

The humane society also hoped Zimba’s story emphasized how microchipping your pet works and can keep your pet safe.
