“Mel and I are committed to giving away all our money to make the world a better place...it’s an obligation on us to use that to be a force for good and make the world a better place, rather than just hoard.”

Most of us want to become a millionaire. The money earned can be used to buy a lavish house, cars, clothes, and food. The best thing about it is you don’t have to worry about not having enough.

However, this billionaire couple donated their money for the greater good.

We do see a lot of millionaires sharing their money with those in need. They often donate it to various organizations or set their own foundation. There’s nothing better than sharing what you have with those who have less in their life.

We don’t see a lot of celebrities or businessmen give all their hard-earned money to others. They share a portion of it, but not everything.

This is exactly what this extraordinary couple plans to do. Australia’s youngest billionaire and Canva CEO Melanie Perkins and her fiancé and co-founder of the company, Cliff Obrecht are donating all their money to the world a better place.

“Mel and I are committed to giving away all our money to make the world a better place. I think with running such a large company with such a significant valuation now, it’s an obligation on us to use that to be a force for good and make the world a better place, rather than just hoard,” Obrecht told The Australian.

Canva is a user-friendly graphic and design tool that allows businesses, artists, students, and professionals to create eye-catching images. It uses a drag-and-drop format where users can create professional-looking content for their social media profiles, businesses, and school. Artists, designers, and non-designers can easily use it in their browsers or mobile phones.

In fact, Canva has been growing since it’s launched in 2014.

Recently, the company expanded its operations to Manila and Beijing, reaching a $6 billion valuation. From its humble beginnings in Australia, we can see that the company has truly grown over the years. And they don’t seem to stop anytime soon.

Perkins and Obrecht have a lot of plans for Canva.

Thanks to the application, users can now easily design certificates and different marketing materials. It is only right that they enjoy their money. In fact, Perkins has amassed a personal fortune of $2.5 billion through Canva, making her Australia’s third-richest woman.

With all the hard work they’ve put in over the years they deserve to enjoy the fruit of their hard work.

The pair often share photos of their lavish trips abroad. The pair has traveled to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Cappadocia in central Turkey, and to Richard Branson’s privately-owned Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. It was during one of these trips that Obrecht finally popped the question.

Obrecht proposed to Perkins with a $30 ring during their trip to Turkey. He said that they live a simple life despite the fortune they earned through their graphic design firm. It’s amazing how these billionaires can stay humble even after the success they reached.

It was through this attitude that they decided to donate their money for the greater good.

“We live pretty modestly and we don’t really see the need to just accrue wealth. The priority for the company is education, because we really feel educating underprivileged people gives them the opportunity to break the cycle,” Obrecht said.

They plan on donating the money to causes like the reformation of the global health system.

They are truly a power duo!

Perkins shared that she came up with the idea of Canva when she was a private tutor for graphic design students. She noticed that her students were struggling with the current learning design programs such as Adobe Photoshop.
