When one of your siblings is a little bit different than others, you often do whatever you can within your power to protect them. And that’s exactly how big brother John acts with his little sister Clara.

According to ABC 11, Clara was born with achondroplasia, which is the most common type of short-limbed dwarfism.

“Achondroplasia is a form of short-limbed dwarfism. The word achondroplasia literally means ‘without cartilage formation.’ Cartilage is a tough but flexible tissue that makes up much of the skeleton during early development,” the Genetics Home Reference explains.

“However, in achondroplasia, the problem is not in forming cartilage but in converting it to bone (a process called ossification), particularly in the long bones of the arms and legs.”

While that may mean that Clara will have to do things differently than those with a taller stature, she is still capable.

“Never underestimate someone who is a little different from you. Clara will do big things in her life, just like you or me, she will just find her own way of doing them!” Clara’s mom Danielle Davis wrote on Instagram.

Clara goes through the same things that all children do and her brother is there to see her through every step of the way.

Including when she doesn’t feel good.

This sweet little boy loves his sister so much that he wanted to care for her when she was sick. Poor little Clara wasn’t feeling well and she had just been tested for Respiratory syncytial RSV, strep throat, and the flu.

As it turned out she tested positive for RSV

“Respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious, especially for infants and older adults,” the Centers for Disease Control’s website states.

“In fact, RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States. It is also a significant cause of respiratory illness in older adults.”

“I hate when my babies get sick!” Danielle wrote on Instagram.

And apparently, John also hates it when his sister is sick.

He had just gotten over being sick and knew how it felt.

“John is over the flu thankfully! Sweet rambunctious boy is back. Now Clara is cutting 4 teeth, has RSV and an ear infection,” Danielle wrote.

“Also, @bradley7 has bronchitis. If anyone hears me complain about the heat this summer, just smack me and remind me how sick my family was this winter.”

Danielle shot a video of her sweet little boy trying to console his sister who didn’t feel good.

He picked her up into his arms and gently held her.

He rocked the little girl back and forth to try and soothe her and make her feel better.
