Going through tough things in life can be a little less tough when you have friends.

When it came time for barber Neftali Martín to shave the rest of his hair after losing some to chemotherapy, he was glad to have his co-workers by his side.

He was moved to tears when he saw just how serious his friends were about being there for him.

Dr. Timothy Panella, a medical oncologist with The University of Tennessee Medical Center Cancer Institute, says that losing one’s hair can be an emotional turning point for people undergoing chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy kills rapidly growing cells, so you can get side effects in three areas,” Panella tells SELF.

One of those areas is hair loss.

“People typically tell me two reasons [for shaving their heads before they fully lose their hair],” Panella said. “One is that they know they’re going to lose their hair, so they want to be in control.”

Another reason is that hair can start to shed and end up everywhere.

According to Mirror, Martín has been undergoing chemotherapy to treat lymphoma cancer.

When the time came for Martín to shave his hair he left his head in the capable hands of his co-worker and friend Joel Ortega González.

Martín wanted to witness the moment he let go of his hair and set his camera up to record the moment. But he had no idea what was going to happen next.

Martín is visibly nervous and stares ahead as his head is being shaved.

It takes a few moments but then he realizes that González is shaving off his own hair in solidarity.

Martín just broke down in tears and held his hand to his face while González shaved off the rest of his hair.

He then used a blow dryer and brush to remove any excess hair on himself and Martín.

Martín later posted the loving act on Instagram and the video ended up going viral.

“‘You are not alone.’ Those were the words of my great friend and co-worker, immediately afterward, he shaved his head telling me that until I grew back he was going to continue shaving with me,” Martín wrote in his Instagram post.

“We want to show you what true friendship is because we are all one. For the moments that we have passed and those that we have left to live. What the barbershop unites, let no one separate it.”

The video has since been posted all over the internet with people overwhelmed by the show of love these coworkers have for one another. Check it out for yourself in the video below.
