Did you know that there’s a relationship between animals of different species?

It is known as interspecies friendship. This unique connection between wild and domesticated animals has been documented in photography and video in many cases.

It’s incredible to see unusual animal friendship.

Mental Floss has listed some of these animal kingdom’s most surprising friendships, including Peanut the rat and Ranj the cat; Juniper the fox and Moos the dog; Bea the giraffe and Wilma the ostrich; Themba the elephant and Albert the sheep; Sahara the cheetah and Alexa the dog, and the grouping continues.

How about a dog and an elephant?

Dogs want to befriend just about everyone and everything they come across. They’re fun and social creatures who just want to play, dearly loved, and play some more! So, when a dog came across a baby elephant at Thailand’s Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, all he wanted to do was play with the not-so-small mammal.

Elephants are saved at this beautiful sanctuary in northern Thailand from either unsafe conditions in the wild or from other so-called “sanctuaries” that mistreat them.

Elephants will truly relax and find refuge at the Elephant Nature Park, regardless of why they’ve ended up here.

A dog is running around in the fields at the sanctuary when he comes across a baby elephant in this now-viral video.

The dog immediately wants to play!

Obviously, the puppy is much quicker and more active than the bulky baby elephant, who is yet learning how to conquer the world. This does not discourage the baby elephant from attempting to keep up with the bubbly puppy.

He chases after the dog, while the elderly elephants stand in the background, keeping an eye on their newest member of the family.

The dog is ecstatic that the elephant has agreed to join in on the fun, and it is at this point that the pup begins almost ‘teasing’ the big calf.

The dog runs left and right, causing the baby elephant to become enraged and chase him even harder.

“For several moments, the little dog playfully beckons the elephant along, inviting him to give chase. The not-so-little youngster happily obliges, of course, though like most participants playing with a spry pup, he has a hard time keeping up,” explained The Dodo.

It doesn’t take long for the dog to start running laps around the baby elephant, who is now trying to keep up with the cheery and hyper pup!

Tourists who visit the sanctuary remain on the sidelines, giggling uncontrollably as they watch these two very different animals play like human children.

And the older elephants seem to be keeping an eye on things!

The short video of less than a minute is extremely favored to watch because, soon? The baby elephant decides that the dog’s energy and hyperactivity have been too much for them.

The elephant soon becomes visibly irritated by the dog’s stance to capture him.

Well, how does a baby reacts? Sure thing, have a childish tantrum!

In outrage, the baby elephant kicks a mound of straw on the ground and even flings some up into the air with their trunk. Eventually, what are your thoughts?

The baby finally had it with this dog’s tricks!

The elephant has had enough of playing and returns to his mother for comfort and relief.

One of the viewers left a witty comment,

“That’s IT! If you’re not going to let me WIN, I’m NOT playing anymore! MUUUUUUMMMMM!”

And as the baby elephant heads to his mother, you can see their disappointment as they stomp and moan, much like a human child.

What about the dog?

They seem to be rejoicing in their triumph as if he has ‘won’ this apparently enjoyable game of chase. Perhaps, this baby elephant and dog can’t be added to this interspecies friendship set.

The whole short game was so cute that it’s been viewed over 15 million times. Check out the video below and see for yourself!
