Most people celebrate Halloween by having fun with costumes and scary decorations.
However, the day after Halloween was a disaster for the Robinson family.
At the start of the video, it can be seen that Evan Robinson is holding a deflated lawn decor.
He bought the tree using his own money and adores it very much. However, an unfortunate incident happened that led to a remarkable act of kindness.
The Halloween tree decoration was stolen.
It turns out that someone played a prank and took Evan’s inflatable spooky tree.
He did not take it lightly and expressed great disappointment upon discovering the situation.
Mr. John Robinson recalled the moment Evan discovered his ghost tree was missing. His son was too shocked; that made him mad, and have a breakdown.
The dad told KSDK News,
“He called us, uncontrollable, distraughtness, crying, having a breakdown, saying someone took his inflatable.”
Evan has autism and formed a deep attachment to the inflatable.
Most people, especially kids, develop object attachment. However, autism takes such kind of connection to a different level.
The same case can be applied to 16-year-old Evan and his inflating tree.
Losing an important object can cause a significant amount of stress.
A person with autism develops a great attachment to objects which bring them comfort.
Evan’s parents expressed their sadness about what happened to his valued possession.
After discovering his spooky tree had been stolen, his parents were extremely heartbroken for their son.
The Robinsons decided to report the case of the missing decor.
Mr. John Robinson called the Farmington Police Department to ask for help and look for the taken lawn decor.
Luckily, Officer Ryan Miller responded to the call immediately.
The officer knew that there was a greater story behind it.
After learning about the incident and its effect on the Robinson family, the officer realized that action had to be taken instantly.
He shared,
“You know a lot of times, people who suffer from autism, they associate a lot of meaning to inanimate objects that a lot of people think is just nothing.”
Ryan Miller decided to use his influence to reach out to the public.
He came up with the idea to use the Police Department’s social media platform and created a post regarding the incident.
Officer Miller’s post received an impressive amount of support.
Even though Officer Ryan Miller did not seek any positive recognition for his action, the community took notice of it.
The post went viral, and Evan’s tree was returned to their front door after a few hours.
An anonymous stranger rang their doorbell and left Evan’s yard decoration on their porch.
In addition to the returned decor, something else was left at their entrance.
Mr. John Robinson noticed an inflatable Santa snow globe with a note. The letter was encouraging and hopeful about the kindness of humankind.
The gift was from Police Officer Ryan Miller.
Officer Miller decided to get Evan the glowing inflatable Santa decoration.
He wanted to let him know that despite the unfortunate occurrence, some people still do good and care for one another.
Evan was very happy with the gift that he received.
Even Mr. and Mrs. Robinson were moved by Officer Ryan Miller’s kindness to their son. As the officer said, “Being kind is free.”
