Woman spots fire from 1 mile away & drives towards flames unaware of how many people she’ll save
It was 1 AM and Haily was on her way back home when she saw flames in the distance and something inside of her told her to drive towards it.

She got in her car at 1:00 am and drove to warn this family whose house was already burning.

Haily Strong had spotted the flames around a mile away and prompted her to drive towards the flame early in the morning. When she arrived at the house, she saw their garage was on fire and she rushed to the front door.

She rang the doorbell and knocked on their door to get their attention.

“You guys’, [your] garage is on fire!” Haily “Moss” Strong yelled.

Haily kept knocking until someone came out.

She knew they were in there because the cars were parked on their driveway. But she had no idea who was living in the house and how many people were inside.

She was so surprised when she found out that all 11 people who lived there were all home.

Josh Ellis and Brittany Downing lived in that house with their nine young children. The children were already sleeping at that time while Josh and Brittany were in their room watching TV.

Josh was the one who answered the door and the garage was already engulfed by that time.

It turns out their smoke detectors were not working and they could not smell the smoke because the wind was blowing it in the other direction.

If Haily hadn’t seen the smoke a mile away, a different story might be being shared right now.

“All the other outcomes that could have happened if she wouldn’t have stopped and knocked on the door, I don’t know if me and him would be here today for them kids,” Brittany cried.

Once Josh knew what was happening, he and Brittany woke the kids up and rushed them out of the house. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

“That’s an angel,” Josh referred to Haily. “She saved our family, no exaggeration about that. She stayed and she saved our family. I mean, the house was ablaze.”

And Haily was just grateful she had the right frame of mind to know what to do at that time.

“I definitely can see that I’m scared, but I don’t remember feeling as scared as I look in the video,” Haily recalled. “I just remember feeling like, ‘I got to get these people out of here. I got to get them across the street.’”

What happened to this family of 11 was very scary that’s why it’s important that we need to take the necessary steps to keep our homes safe from fire.

American Red Cross recommends installing smoke alarms on every level of your house, inside and outside sleeping areas. You also need to test them once a month to check if they’re still working.

And always have a fire plan, which you can practice with the people in your home at least twice a year.

And when there’s a fire and you can’t put it out with a fire extinguisher, get everyone out, stay out and call 911.
