Do you ever feel anxious about some of the current news today?
As parents, seeing news about shootouts, drugs, and human trafficking can cause any parent or anyone to feel stressed and anxious.
You just wake up and feel so scared for your loved ones, especially your kids. What if, one day, you realize your child is missing?
Most cases like this end up in bad news or add to the missing children’s list or get filed as a cold cases.
Last week, a little girl was saved from an ill fate because of an alert Utah Highway Patrol Trooper.
The alert trooper noticed a white Nissan Altima that had a very dark tinted window. Utah laws only allow certain tinted cars, and this car broke the rules.
It was very dark considering it was already 10:30 pm, Saturday, and the trooper saw the car on I-15 near Cedar City.
He did his job and stopped the car.
As testified in the court document, aside from the tinted car violation, he also saw that the car was drifting over the road.
The trooper saw two adult men and one little girl, but what alarmed him was the potent smell of marijuana.
Right after he noticed the smell, he asked for backup from another trooper with a K-9 unit. There, they were able to find proof the car had narcotics.
Something was very wrong with the situation.
The trooper started questioning the driver, 33-year-old Alejandro Marcos Carrillo-Lira, and his other passenger, 19-year-old Brandon Vargas Cardoso.
They also asked the two men about the little girl with them.
“We started to take note that there were not any clothes or possessions that belonged to the little girl in the car,” the trooper recalled in the documents according to KSL. “We interviewed the driver, and he initially claimed the seven-year-old back seat passenger was his daughter. He was unable to provide simple details about the girl.”
Good thing the troopers were alert and didn’t believe the alibi of the two men.
They were obviously making these stories up, as they can’t even recall basic information about the girl.
After further questioning, Carrillo-Lirao finally admitted that he and his companion were on their way to smuggle the seven-year-old girl across the country.
The trooper didn’t waste any time and arrested the two men.
Both the suspect’s phones had evidence that they received payment for smuggling the little girl.
Can you imagine the horror of the situation? It is every parent’s nightmare.
KSL News said that The Department of Child and Family Services took the girl into custody while they are investigating her case.
They charged Carrillo-Lirao and his accomplice, Vargas Cardoso, with a felony count of aggravated human smuggling.
Authorities haven’t released any other statement about the case or about the young girl involved.
Thanks to the alert state trooper, he was able to save a girl’s life.
We do hope that she would be able to get reunited with her family and get past the entire trauma that she experienced.
