If you’re someone who enjoys scouring the internet for interesting stories and videos, you’ve probably seen a few heartwarming reunions between adopted children and their biological parents or parent. You can’t help but feel happy and sad at the same time. For many people, these stories make them appreciate family even more.
Adoption stories
Fortunately, a lot of adoption reunion stories have happy endings. But not all of them do. It’s that small percentage of doubt that often prevents an adopted child from searching for their birth parents.
Who am I?
For most adopted kids, even those who were raised in amazing homes, they simply want to know who they are. They want to know if they look or act like their biological parents, whether they have any blood siblings, and if any chronic illnesses run in the family. But most importantly, these children want to know why their mom or dad put them up for adoption in the first place.
Meet Nathan Boos
This man went into a wonderful home immediately after he was born. His adoptive parents never kept it a secret from him that he was adopted. But even though he knew, he never felt the need to search them out.
A fantastic upbringing
From the very beginning, Nathan was loved by his adoptive mom and dad. They doted on him and raised him to know right from wrong. They knew who his biological parents were but because Nathan never showed any interest to find out, they never told him.
A fine young man
Thanks to how Nathan’s parents raised him, he grew into a responsible adult. After getting his license to drive a big rig, he became a professional truck driver. But over time, his mom began to share bits and pieces of information about his dad, which led to him discovering that he too, was a truck driver.
Best friends
While working at Rock Solid Transport, Nathan developed a close relationship with a co-worker and fellow trucker by the name of Bob Degaro. The more time they spent together, the more it became obvious they had a lot in common. For two years, these friends were inseparable.
Curiosity got the best of him
Eventually, and now as an adult, Nathan was curious about his adoptive parents. So, his mom pulled out a photo of his dad to show him. That’s when he almost fell out of his chair.
More than just friends
As Nathan looked at the photo, he couldn’t believe what he saw. The man, his biological father, was his best friend from work … Bob Degaro. As you can imagine, he was beyond shocked yet thrilled.
Sharing the news
One day, Nathan sent Bob a text on Facebook asking if he knew his biological mother. And as anticipated, he said yes. Finally, the two knew they were in fact, father and son.
An extended family
Although Bob is no longer married to Nathan’s mom, the couple has two additional children. That means he has two full-blood siblings. But at last, Nathan learned why they gave him up as adoption as a baby.
It all came down to finances. The couple was struggling and so, they did the most selfless thing any parent can do … they put their son up for adoption to give him the chance of having a better life. Today, the two are still getting to know one another, not as best friends, but as father and son.
