It’s normal to worry about aging and what you will and won’t be able to do as you get older.
But this dancing queen might be just the reminder you need that it’s up to you to keep yourself young.
This 96-years-old, this woman was having a great time as she dances the night away, reminding everyone that age is just a number when it comes to doing the things you love.

Her name is Shirley Goodman.
Shirley is a grandma to 10 and a great-grandmother to 3, but you could never guess that by watching her dance.
If we didn’t know any better, we would guess she wasn’t a day over 60!

It’s amazing to see someone like Shirley, that seems to keep herself young by doing what she loves with the people she loves.
At her great-nephews wedding, a band plays a cover of Bruno Mars’, Locked Out of Heaven,” and Shirley, along with others, can’t help but move to the music.

Shirley is known as the Dancing Nanny and has been featured in places such as Good Morning America, where she said, “It’s overwhelming, it’s wonderful,” about becoming a viral sensation.
As she approaches a century old, Shirley continues to dance and shares it on social media, through her own Instagram page @the.dancing.nana where she has twenty-seven thousand followers.
Her Instagram bio reads, “A true believe in the power of dance 💃.” As you scroll through her page, it is evident that the power of dance is strong, keeping Shirley up on her feet and moving in ways that other people her age can’t even imagine.

People all over the world can’t get enough of the Dancing Nana.
In the comment on this video one person writes,
“I don’t know if I’m more impressed that she’s 97…or that she’s the best dancer on the floor!”
While another commenter says,
“That’s probably why she’s lived to 96. She moves every day stays active. She’s amazing.”
What do you think? Does dance really have the power to keep people young? Or maybe there is something else that you’ve seen work in the same way.
Maybe singing or walking a certain amount everyday?

One thing is for sure, doing what you love can really make all the difference, not only for you, but to others around you.
Wherever you look online, there is an outpouring of love for Shirley, her rhythm, stamina, and enthusiasm.

Someone else says,
“I’m 63 years old, I have dirty dishes in my sink, because my bones are aching. After seeing this video, she motivated me to get my lazy #$% off my recliner, put on some music, and go clean my house. Love this young lady!”

There is no doubt that Shirley didn’t expect to become a viral sensation when she was dancing at her great-nephew’s wedding, she was just doing what brings her the most joy.
