We all know that weddings are really all about one person – the bride! It’s her day to make her dream wedding come true and woe to anyone who gets in her way! Still, pretty much without fail, there is always someone looking to steal the show. Sometimes it’s a drunk uncle, other times it’s an angry ex-boyfriend, but sometimes, it’s a little brother who doesn’t want to lose his big sister!
Troy and Catie Hudson were set to be married when one of those “wedding crashers” decided to emotionally steal the show!
The couple had been planning their big day for a while now and it turned out exactly as they had anticipated. Well, it almost did. The good part, however, is that the wedding crasher this time around didn’t have an ounce of spite in his heart – he just wanted his sister to know that he loved her!
Gus is Catie’s 9-year-old brother and the two are very close.
Gus is technically Catie’s half-brother, but that doesn’t mean anything to the two of them. They are as close as two siblings can be! Even though they have a nearly 20-year gap between them, they have the kind of relationship that every brother and sister wants to have.
Before Gus stole the show at his sister’s own wedding, there was a lead-up that makes sense to the story.
Gus, as any little brother should be, was wary of his sister getting married! His primary reason? He didn’t want his sister to stop spending time with him.
“I was worried that she wouldn’t spend as much time with me as she used to,” he said. “So it was really stressful in that way because I didn’t want to lose her.”
This “guy” that Catie was spending time with was a threat to Gus!
Thankfully, all it took was a little time spent with Troy for Gus’s worries to go away. When he finally learned that Troy wasn’t a bad guy, after all, he was ok with his sister marrying him. Still, before it was all official, he was going to get one last word in!
When he took the stage for a final speech on the wedding day, Gus stole the show.
“I’m so happy that you guys got married today. And I know I might seem a little sad up here, but these are tears of joy. Catie, I love you so much and I’m so happy you gave me a brother-in-law,” Gus said.
It was rather immediate – Gus and Troy both started bawling, stealing the show from their very own friend, the bride! Thankfully, Catie didn’t care all that much. She was just happy that her two best friends had become best friends themselves.
Gus’s final words to any other “half” siblings?
“Don’t let that separate you because you deep down love them and they deep down love you,” he said.
Hard to argue with wise words like that, Gus. Family is family, there is no such thing as “half’s”.
