“I hope one of y’all pick me.”
This is the simple but heartfelt plea that touched thousands of hearts across America, wanting to adopt the boy who just wished for a family to call his own.
Jordan, a 9-year-old boy from Oklahoma, has been in foster care for six years and is ready to be adopted. But sadly, he is still waiting for a family to pick him and bring him home with them.
The boy was featured in KFOR’s A Place To Call Home and in the viral clip featured in the news program, the little boy made a short but sincere plea for a family. The longing in his voice resonated with people across the country who happen to watch the clip.
After witnessing the sadness in this boy’s face, about 5,000 inquiries about adopting him flooded the news station.
Young Jordan said in the footage that he only wanted to have a mom and dad, or just a mom, or just a dad. He did not really care as long as someone picks him up and welcome them as a family of their own.
He just wanted to have someone to talk to.
“The reason it’s important is because so I could have some people to talk to any time I need to,” Jordan shared further.
Jordan’s wish may just come true after the massive response the news program got from people who are eager to adopt the boy and finally give him the family he deserves. With only half a day after the moving video of Jordan was aired, KFOR received thousands of adoption inquiries!

Thousands of potential families for Jordan
Christopher Marlowe, Jordan’s permanency planning worker, shares how thrilled he was to find out about the staggering number of potential families that are willing to take the boy in.
“I’m really excited about this and very hopeful this is going to be the breakthrough we needed to find this kid a home,” Marlowe happily shared.
The department where Marlowe is assigned even has to work for a longer schedule to accommodate the huge amount of inquiries, a task that they are glad to be doing as they are helping in choosing the best family for Jordan to be in.
A home near his brother
An Oklahoma-based family is mostly preferred as this would mean that the nine-year-old boy will be living close to his brother Braison, who got adopted just last year. Braison’s adoptive family is “agreeable” to this set-up, according to Marlowe.
On any given day, there are about 437,000 children who spend time in the US foster care system. It is a better option ta being homeless, but it’s as near as great as being adopted by a family permanently.
Finally, a chance at a better and happier life
Marlowe notes that Jordan is one of those children in foster care that has been through a lot and knowing that he’s got thousands of potential families to be with gives him a sense of relief and happiness.
Although it may still take months for Jordan to finally have an official adoptive family out of all the inquiries made, it is still something to look forward to for the young boy.
