Kimiko Nishimoto touched a camera for the very first time when she was 72-years-old. At 74, she discovered photo-editing on the Mac computer.
Now, at 89-years-old, Kimiko is taking and editing the most hilarious and adorable self-portraits ever.
Kimiko’s son was teaching a beginner’s photography course when she decided that she’d give it a shot and enroll. This decision would be life-changing for her, igniting a passion that she spent over 7 decades never knowing she had.
Kimiko had an instant love for photography and started snapping a variety of pictures, including ones of herself in funny, comical self-portraits. Ten years after taking up the hobby, Kimiko had her very first solo exhibition in Kumamoto, Japan.
Kimiko’s photos are soon to be featured in Tokyo at an exhibition titled “Asobokane” which means “let’s play” in Japanese.
Her amazing talent and desire to take on a new path in life at any age is an inspiration to us all. If you were looking for a mood-booster today — you found it. If you happen to be in Tokyo during her exhibit, these pictures will surely convince you to go. Plus, they’ll be featuring works of hers that have never been seen before.
In the meantime — enjoy.

12. She clearly thinks outside of the box and walks to the beat of her own drum.
13. She likes the “falling off bikes” photos, apparently, and it’s fantastic.
14. Kimiko doesn’t only photograph self-portraits, but they’re clearly our favorite.
