Every one of us can use a little bit of kindness in our lives. A simple act of kindness can bring a huge impact on someone and can even change someone’s life.
One of the first lessons that we learn at home is kindness. From sharing our toys to showing compassion to others, it’s a part of growing up. It’s one of the things that make the world better and is something that we should always practice.
Sadly, in our world today, it’s so hard to see what real kindness is all about. That is why news about kindness, good deeds, compassion, and love is so treasured. It restores our faith in humanity, and this is something that we need, especially today.
This simple but heartwarming story happened two years ago, but it will still bring a smile to your face.
An 8-year-old boy from Milledgeville, Georgia, saw an elderly woman who was having a hard time climbing a flight of stairs, even though she was already using her walker.
The little boy noticed that no one was trying to help the old woman, even though there were so many people around. This prompted little Maurice Adams, Jr. to ask his mom to stop the car.
He asked her if they can stop for a while so he could help the old woman, and his mother quickly parked their car. Maurice jumped out of the car and ran to the old woman.
Maurice’s mom definitely felt proud as she saw her son helping the elderly lady. No one told him to do it. He just wanted to help the old lady climb the stairs.
The sincere moment can touch anyone’s heart.
The young boy offered his help, and he patiently assisted the old woman as she climbed the stairs. She was really old, and this simple task was really hard for her.
According to his interview with KSDK News, he shared that he has always loved the elderly and that kids like him should always help.
He gently held the old woman’s hand while he guided her through the flight of stairs. You can clearly see it in this boy’s eyes, he was doing it out of love, and he’s so happy to be able to help.
When the pair reached the top, the old woman gave Maurice the sweetest hug!
Little did Maurice know that someone was watching him. A man named Riley Duncan was in his car just behind them. He instinctively took out his phone and started recording.
According to Riley, he knew this moment was worth to be shared and that this boy’s random act of kindness can inspire many.
“You don’t see that too commonly these days,” says Riley. He was extremely happy with Maurice’s action that he handed him a hundred dollar bill as a reward for the boy’s kindness.
In his interview, Riley said that he decided to upload the video because he wanted to share this beautiful story. He hopes that kids like Maurice would be inspired by this story, and he wanted to share this online so that more and more kids would know how important it is to be kind to everyone.
Maurice’s story went viral and has inspired many people. The short video that was posted on YouTube by KSDK News received so many heartwarming comments:
“What a sweet, sweet, child. You could tell he really liked the hug he got after he helped her. it made him feel so good. Again, what a sweet, sweet, child,” said Lynne Jones.
“That little angel was raised right. We do need a LOT more Maurice’s in our world,” shared Gus Walker.
“That little boy was brought up right, to respect his elders and do the right thing! Great parenting equals great kids! Good job Mom & Dad, you have raised a fine young man that we can all be proud of,” Bronx and Rosie commented.
A quote from Scott Adams says, “Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.
Any act of kindness would be appreciated, and we should never doubt ourselves when we want to do something for someone.
When showing kindness, we don’t really need to post it online so we can get likes and shares, we don’t need to show it off, or even wait for a reward. We should all learn from Maurice, a young boy who knows the real meaning of compassion and kindness.
