It's her purpose for standing out there next to such a fast, busy road that's worth talking about.

One woman is on a mission to bring joy to drivers on their morning commute.

74-year-old Patricia Bracey wakes up at 8:30 sharp to go on her morning walk…or as she calls it, her ‘church.’ Why? Well, Patricia isn’t just walking, she is using her time and energy to greet the morning commuters with a smile and a wave. It may seem trivial but this simple act has touched many lives with happiness and joy. She is an amazing lady with an infectious laugh.

“It’s the highlight of my day.” – Bracey told WTVR CBS 6

Bracey was interviewed by WTVR CBS 6 after her efforts started gaining attention. Drivers started looking forward to her greetings and honked their horns in acknowledgment. In an interview with WTVR CBS 6, Bracey is seen smiling and pointing at the cars driving by saying, “I see you, I see you.”

Her mission continues…rain or shine.

No matter what the weather might bring, Bracey is prepared and focused on the most important job of the day. She laughed as she told WTVR CBS 6 that one day she was so bundled up that the drivers could only see her eyes. But no matter what circumstances get in her way, she knows that her mission is an important one. “Lord told me to do it…he told me to just wave and smile.” – Bracey told WTVR CBS 6

It wasn’t always easy for Patricia.

At one point in her life, she was living out of her car with two dogs and a cat for over a year. “I lost everything I had.” – she told WTVR CBS 6. Thankfully, her family found out about her situation and stepped in to help. There is no doubt this life experience has shaped how Patricia spends her days. She is a positive light in so many lives.

“I’ve met some fantastic people out here.” – Bracey told WTVR CBS 6

When asked why she does it, she replies with a simple, selfless response. “It just makes people’s day and when it makes other people’s day, it makes my day.” Bracey told WTVR CBS 6

Mornings aren’t so bad with Patricia at her post.

One commuter shed light on what an inspiration she is to so many. “She brings a lot of joy..she has a beautiful smile and she always has a nice word from the Lord.” – Tisha Lee told WTVR CBS 6.

A bright light in the early morning hours.

One of Patricia’s neighbors, Mary Ginet, told WTVR CBS 6 how her efforts can cause a ripple effect. “I think that small act of kindness can spur another act of kindness.” She went on to say that seeing Patricia waving and smiling helps her to face the morning with a more positive outlook. “Some mornings when we leave it’s like…ugh…but I see her and I think, how awesome…how awesome it is.” – Mary Ginet told WTVR CBS 6
