A young boy from New York has joined the long list of viral internet memes that we love seeing on our feeds.
Meet “corn kid”, the boy who went viral for his immense love of corn.
No one loves corn quite as much as the corn kid. It’s the name that the internet gave to 7-year-old Tariq, a little boy from New York who absolutely adores the stuff. The story goes that he first tried it with butter and fell in love with it instantly.
Tariq got his exposure when interviewed by Recess Therapy on YouTube.
“Ever since I was told that corn was real, it tasted good. But when I tried it with butter, everything changed.” – said the boy
I’ll be honest, it’s hard to understand what he meant by “Ever since I was told that corn was real.” The host of the video asks him the same thing we’re all thinking, “Did you think corn wasn’t real?”.
Tariq never answered his question straight, so I guess we’re just left to speculate whether or not he really thought corn didn’t exist.
But that little conversation he took part in ended up making him famous.
Now everyone knows who he is, and it’s taken him further than he ever expected.
His unconditional love for corn landed him a partnership with Green Giant.
Little Tariq helped prepare some Thanksgiving corn recipes with the brand for a special video. He loved their little recipe so much that he almost ate it straight out of the bowl until he was asked to stop!
“Thanksgiving is practically a holiday about corn. I mean, every day could be a holiday if you get to eat corn at some point.” – said Tariq for Green Giant’s website
He made more buttered corn to share on their Instagram page.
Tariq has a point about corn on Thanksgiving. It’s a popular choice for topping off turkeys, after all!

“….but this is the one day that we get to stay home with family, watch a big parade, and then eat corn. Lots and lots of corn. It’s my favorite day of the year!”
That partnership went a lot further than just preparing yummy recipes too.
Together, Tariq and Green Giant also donated 50,000 cans of their corn for Thanksgiving meal boxes this November.

Now everyone can partake in Tariq’s favorite way to celebrate Thanksgiving.
To top it all off, Tariq even got government recognition as a connoisseur of corn too.
Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota officially declared Tariq the state’s “Corn-bassador.”

So effectively, little Tariq represents corn now. At least in this state! All at the age of 7 too.
What made the whole world love him so much wasn’t the novel obsession he had, but rather the sheer innocence and purity he displays about it.
It’s a rare thing that’s so often lost when we grow older. I hope he keeps that unashamed enthusiasm and innocence no matter what!
