Some say heroes are born, others say they are made.
Well, if they’re made, they’re making them real young these days.
Bridger Walker is just 6-years-old but he’s already a hero that put himself in harm’s way to save the life of another.
Apparently, Bridger even has the foresight of a hero.
“If someone had to die, I thought it should be me,” he reportedly told his aunt after his heroic act.
Bridger saved his little sister’s life after a dog attacked them.
The dog was charging toward the small girl and Bridger jumped in front of the dog to save his sister.
The dog ended up viciously attacking the brave boy causing him to get 90 stitches.
Thankfully, Bridger is healing and everyone is doing just fine.
“On July 9th, my 6-year-old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog. After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe,” Bridger’s aunt Nikki Walker wrote on her Instagram page.
“He later said, ‘If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.’ After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home. We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”
Bridger’s aunt ended up posting his story on Instagram in hopes to get some words from encouragement from other heroes to help cheer Bridger up while he recovers.
And superheroes heard that call loud and clear.
Octavia Spencer, who will play a crime fighter in the movie Thunder Force, and Mark Ruffalo, who played Bruce Banner and his alter ego the Hulk in the Marvel cinematic universe, both reached out to Bridger to tell him how awesome he is.
“I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart. Real courage isn’t dominating people or fighting against people or walking around like a tough guy. Real courage is knowing what is right to do and doing it even when it might end up hurting you somehow. You are more of man than many, many I have seen or known,” Ruffalo wrote.
According to Wyoming News, Bridger and his sister have always been close.
He refused to let anyone take his baby sister out of his lap the first time they met.
Lots of movie superheroes reached out to Bridger to commend him for saving his sister.
He also got to watch a message from Chris Evans, who played Captain America, while Bridger was wearing a Captain America costume.
Evans even promised to send Bridger an official Captain America shield.
Nikki has reported that her nephew’s wounds are healing nicely and his spirits are high, especially after reading some of the nice messages people have left for him.

Nikki also filled us in on how forgiving and understanding Bridger’s family has been with the family of the dog’s owner.
Because accidents do happen and there is room for forgiveness and understanding.
‘I’d also like to mention here that the dog’s owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family,” Nikki explained.

“We feel no resentment toward them at all, and—if anything—there’s only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident.”
So, it’s easy to understand that Bridger obviously gets his heroics from his family.

Bridger’s story ended up going viral and was liked more than 875,000 times on Instagram.
Many people have asked how they can donate to Bridger’s family, but Nikki explained that this isn’t necessary.
His parents would rather people donated to the Wounded Warriors Project or Mission 22. They did, however, have one request.
“After Bridger’s actions, our family has settled on a simple request: may we each actively strive to bear one another’s burdens; stand up for and protect those that are weak; oppressed, or those whom the world might forsake; mourn with those that mourn, comfort those that need comfort; and love one another. May we follow Bridger’s example, approach the world as a child, and bring greater peace to our own homes, communities, states, and countries.”
