Trees are beautiful.
Any time you feel down, all you need to do is look at a tree and meditate on how life-giving it is. Eventually, peace starts overtaking your soul. What is even more amazing is that the more you learn about them, the more you’ll realize that trees are one of the most resilient things that nature has to offer.
Just look at these 50 trees that managed to thrive in hard places and you will be inspired.
1. A chair is not a chair when there is no leaf there
How can you be sure that the chair you bought is real wood? First, you must check its sturdiness. Then, when leaves start sprouting on it, you can be 100% certain.
2. Got knocked down and got up again
Want to remind yourself that falling down is temporary? Look at this tree! See how it just looped over the fall, sought the sun and started growing again?
3. Just like a painting
Sometimes, the best art comes from what we see in nature. This tree growing out of a hard rock is picture-perfect. It is awesome how beautiful our world is.
4. On the edge
Check out this tree growing at the end of a cliff. It does not have deep roots and yet it stands. Harsh conditions do not hinder this one from growing.
5. Gut Tree?
The best way to remind a person that you need to clean the gutter is when a tree grows out of it! We admit it is cool to have a tree there but for safety reasons, you need to gut it out (pun very much intended). Otherwise, your roof will come crashing down.
6. Peek-a-tree
Does the owner of the flat have a green thumb? Has the building been abandoned for a long time that trees started growing out of its windows? Your guess is as good as ours.
7. From the dead, a tree rises
A new tree grew out of the stump of a dead tree. It continued to grow even though the older tree rotted away. Sounds cool but looks creepy, no?

This tiny fir started growing through the cracks of a rock. It is quite a heartwarming thing to observe. It reminds us that sometimes life blossoms in the hardest of places.
9. Growing outside of the box
When this tree was planted in a box of soil surrounded by concrete, they did not expect this. The more it grew, the more its roots spilt over the sidewalk. If you get dizzy when looking at irregular patterns, then this tree isn’t for you.
10. Tree to four
Although it looks like you are looking at four trees, this is actually just one tree. Equally divided into four, the dominant trees share one strong root. Pretty cool, if you ask us.
11. Climbing back up
When this tree fell down, it literally grew four times stronger. As you can see new trees started sprouting on its trunk. Getting uprooted was no setback for Mother Nature to work its magic.

Being submerged in water did not stop this feisty one. In fact, it seemed to thrive even more. There is even an island-like structure that started growing from it.
13. Extensions needed
Ever heard someone tell you that you need to extend yourself a bit to survive? Well, this tree is a good image of something that stretched out in order to survive. It extended its roots to the mainland to get much-needed nutrients.
14. Squeezing out
In spite of the pressure this tree feels from two sides, it continues to fight for its survival. Talk about thriving under pressure.

Trees are awesome. We are not very sure if it is safe to grow it on a roof though. This is especially true if it is one that looks like it will fall down anytime soon.
17. Tree in Chains
This sturdy tree does not allow this chain link fence to stop it from blooming. It even looks like it took a huge bite of the fence. It is like the tree wants to give us a visual that nothing comes between it and its growth.
18. Fire and Trunk
What should a tree do when a fire hydrant is placed in front of it? Grow around it, of course. Don’t fret! The hydrant remains totally functional.

Nature and music are often a perfect mix. But no one was expecting that this tree would take it literally. It didn’t care that there was a piano on the way of its growth. To it, it was a poetic experience to be bound with a musical instrument.
22. Vases make trees prettier
This tree has been growing on top of a silo for more than twenty years. Doesn’t it look like it’s a tree in a vase? You could almost imagine it in your living room.
23. Isn’t it cute?
Concrete jungles are no hindrance for this one to sprout. This mini-tree is determined to thrive. It does not matter how rough its surroundings are.
24. Irregular shapes
The tree’s roots are growing through the gaps of the concrete. For one whose imagination is prone to wander, it looks like the tree has developed webbed feet to walk on. Do you wonder if it creeps through the streets at night?
25. Beach bum
Who doesn’t love the beach? This tree surely does. It is ready to crawl into the water.

No tree stops growing as long as the roots are there. You can cut trees all you want but it will manage to grow its seedlings out of a stump. Mother Nature always finds a way.

The tree in the picture looks like during its first years, it was tilted. However, this condition did not stop it from pushing itself upward to have more of the sun’s mighty rays. What a fighter!

Did a troll plant this tree in this hole? This tree does not care where it is or how it is planted. It just wants to live.

Rule of thumb: as long as trees have roots, they will always regrow. Concrete, cars, and urban noise be damned. All it needs is the sun, some air and a bit of water.
Escape plan
This one looks like it literally wants to jump the fence. It did not succeed as its roots are in the same place. We wonder though, who claims ownership of this tree?

Leaves turn red when they stop producing the green pigment “chlorophyll”, and their other tones begin to show through. For this tree, that’s a part of what makes it so stunning.
43. Peek-a-boo
Some clever people put eyes on this tree’s trunk. Why not? It looks like the tree is eating every bit of that fence.
44. Spot on
