Losing a loved one is incredibly hard, knowing you will never be able to see that person again can be heartbreaking.
But what if you were never actually able to see them in the first place?
5-year-old Bentley Bonds was born with a condition called Septo-optic dysplasia that resulted in him being blind.
The little boy has been a trooper throughout his whole life so far, no doubt in thanks to his loving family.
One of those people who loved and cared for Bentley was his grandmother.
The elderly woman lived a long, happy life filled with friends and family, including her adorable grandson.
Unfortunately, no one can live forever and the woman passed away, leaving behind her devastated family.
The group gathered together a short time ago, wanting to celebrate and honor her life.
Family members were invited to the front to share their love and memories for the matriarch of the family.
Bentley was one of those people, he was determined that every single person in the room knew just how much he loved the woman.
He hustled up to the front of the room and went right for the microphone, his mother trailing behind him to help guide his way.
When he got to the front, Bentley wowed his whole family by singing an incredible rendition of Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’.
Though only 5, Bentley knew all the words and sang the song clearly and with conviction, he even paused when he knew the instrumental section would play.
At one point, and to the crowds resounding joy, he even hummed some of the time between the songs lyrics.
Bentley’s complicated medical condition leads to his sometimes feeling weak, but he was incredibly strong that day.
Though you can only see a few members of Bentley’s audience, the ones you can see are swaying and smiling throughout.
And since the video was posted, it has been viewed thousands of times and received hundreds of likes.
“What a beautiful tribute to his grandmother.” one viewer commented.
Many of the other comments commend the boy for his touching actions, and all agree that he must have had a wonderful grandmother to deserve such a serenade.
Another of the comments has already claimed this as being, “The sweetest video of 2023!”
Though he may have only had 5 short years with his grandmother, it is clear that he loved her unconditionally.
The strength and courage of the young boy, to get up on stage and sing in front of dozens of people, truly demonstrates just how much she meant to him.
The song choice too, was perfect.
Though the song may be most understood for its romantic love, it is about so much more.
Listen to the lyrics closely and you can clearly see that it is about all love and the fact that even though you may no longer be with that person, the love is still there.
Bentley’s beautiful tribute to his grandmother was surely something that would have made her even more proud of him than she, undoubtedly, already was.
