Halloween can get pretty competitive, especially if you’re off to a party with your partner. Normally, it’s a pretty laid-back and fun holiday, but some couples like to take it to the next level by pulling together a couple’s costume that you could never hope to find in a store.
These 45 couples really hit the mark with their wacky wardrobe choices. And while they might not all be obvious right away, once you see what they’re trying to do, it’s hard not to appreciate their ingenuity.

What goes together better than gumball machines and quarters? Also, I really want to know whether that top is made out of real gumballs. If so, she must have spent a whole $10 on her costume!

This guy decided the scariest thing he could possibly go as is our own president. He got the iconic expression down and was set off by his girlfriend posing as Rosie the Riveter.
7. Can they walk?
This couple did a great job recreating the toy soldiers that we all knew and loved as kids. They were totally faithful even down to the foot platforms, which makes me wonder if they can actually walk.
