In one of the finest modern displays of appreciation, one kind Georgia community gave their local mailman the sweetest retirement ceremony.
Meet Floyd Martin.
The people of Marietta absolutely adore Floyd. But why is he so beloved?
Well, for starters, he’s been their mailman for about 35 years. You read that correctly. But on top of that, he has an enormous heart!
He treats everyone with love and compassion.
“If they’re on my route, they’re my kids.”
So when Floyd decided to retire, his community decided to return the love in the form of a blowout block party.
This act of kindness is up there with the great acts of appreciation in human history. There were lots and lots of hugs to go around, that’s for sure!
What better gift than love?
Everyone and their mother (literally) were at Floyd’s retirement party to pay their respects. In fact, about 300 people showed up for this one!
But before the celebration even began, most members of the community decorated their mailboxes for Floyd. Needless to say, the results were beautiful.
Floyd isn’t just loved. He’s revered.
Floyd has clearly had an incalculable impact on this community. Even the tykes know.
Apparently, Floyd would show up with little gifts and candy for the kids every now and then. They would even wait for him to arrive with the mail!

In an interview, one of Floyd’s mail recipients – Sarah – explains how kind he is to her entire family.
“We all loved him.”
Those are some fond words. He’s obviously beloved for evoking such a passionate response by so many – an entire community, in fact.
Floyd clearly made a tremendous impact on his mail route. He delivered more than just mail. He delivered love!
So what else has Floyd done for the community?
Well, the answer is basically anything and everything! His list of good deeds runs deep.
In fact, he even feeds the neighborhood cats and dogs every now and then. Simply put, Floyd cares.
Additionally, he checks up on the elderly residents of his route. Without him, this particular community may never be the same!
It was a special day that’s for sure.
The block party reception was warmer than warm. After all, it was full of joy.
“Thank you for being exemplary, exceptional, and extraordinary.”
That’s high praise.
She’s speaking on behalf of her whole community! The smile on Floyd’s face means the world to them.
You couldn’t spot a single frown if you tried at that party.
Appreciation is in the air.

Of course, Floyd’s big day would be on such a gorgeous afternoon. It couldn’t happen any other way.
Everyone involved may remember this one for the rest of their lives!
The community’s kindness towards Floyd speaks volumes. What a caring community with such caring mailmen.
Even the road sends its love. Floyd and the mail route have known each other for quite some time, after all.

Floyd’s retirement turned out to be the event of the year. This particular block party’s one for the record books!

Oh, the love certainly didn’t stop at the block party. When the neighborhood found out he wanted to go to Hawaii one day, they even made him a GoFundMe page.
It raised almost $33,000!
“To say that he would be missed would prove to be a complete understatement.”
