This video of 3 high schoolers at a talent competition was posted back in 2012, but by then, Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” was nearly a quarter of a century old.

Woof, let that sink in for a minute!

Introducing The Love Mavens

According to Tyler Schroeder’s YouTube caption, “The Love Mavens are a group of 3 High School boys (Tooty Ice, 2 Gloves, Double Trouble) who performed a dance and lip-sync to Vanilla Ice’s hit single ‘Ice Ice Baby’ for their High School’s Talent Show.”

As the threesome comes to the stage, it’s pretty clear they already have the admiration of their audience if the hooting and hollering is any indication.

We’re not sure about the costumes or what comes next, but we assume there’s going to be at least a little goofing around.

Bustin’ moves

It’s clear they practiced their choreography quite a bit, although someone in the comments compared it to “chickens dancing.”

Still cooler than Vanilla Ice, if you ask us.

Overall, opinions were pretty split on whether or not it was an epic performance, but we have to admit that the glow-sticks really added the performance.

A little hip-thrusting never hurts either.

All in good fun

It’s not a professional performance by any means, but they were having a great time and their enthusiasm was infectious for the crowd.

The Love Mavens largely danced in sync and it wasn’t half bad for three teenagers entering a talent competition.

Believe it or not, the video has been viewed over 420k times over the years – and some viewers are repeat customers.

“Lol. I’ve seen this video quite a few times and it never stops being epic,” said one woman.

The second coming

The Love Mavens’ career didn’t end with the 2012 talent show (though we think it might have ended in 2013).

It’s better to just them explain the next year’s offering:

“THE LOVE MAVENS are at it again, performing for another sold out crowd at their high school. 3 talent filled future celebs woo the crowd with their sexual appearances and classy moves. Better than last dance with a MIXTAPE of Pure dance MOOSIC (Thunderstruck: AC/DC, Bohemian Rhapsody: Queen, Fergalicious: Fergie, I’m Different: 2Chainz, Money Maker: Ludacris, Bangarang: Skrillex, Back in Black: AC/DC, Gettin Jiggy Wit it: Will Smith, Ice Ice Baby: Vanilla Ice, Bye Bye Bye: Nsync).”

Ok then.

That performance started off in bathrobes and had quite the eclectic soundtrack.

But there were costume changes and the dance moves improved since the first performance!

A third costume change even involved some pug shirts, which was an interesting sartorial choice. But who are we to give high schoolers fashion advice?

All in all, they finished strong by “Gettin’ Jiggy With it” after yet another costume change – and they danced off the stage in style.

And Zach Bewer (aka “Double Trouble” of The Love Mavens) even performed on his own once a la Napoleon Dynamite.

We’ll leave it up to you to devide if one is better than 3.
