Children can be very demanding when it comes to toys that they want.
Some parents just can’t give in to their desires when it is way beyond what they can afford. And it’s nice that parents have a calm way of making their children understand better so they can stop overthinking about it.
For others who can afford their kids’ wants, regardless of the hefty price, they immediately grant it. After all, they just want to see their kids happy.
Some parents make their children work hard for the money necessary to buy a new toy. It can be through helping in household chores or doing good in school that kids are being rewarded monetarily by their parents. With this, children can somehow understand that the money needed to buy their wishes is not easily obtained by their parents.
It is also essential for children to understand that it is not in an instant that they can get anything and everything they want. They need to work hard for it.
Lauren Nelson has learned this valuable life lesson at a very young age.
Once, she finds this really nice toy that she likes to have from the American Girl doll magazine. Wanting to get it so badly, she lets her parents know.
The VW bus toy that she wishes to buy costs a whopping $650.
Her parents share what they think about buying that expensive toy.
Aimee Nelson, Lauren’s mom, told WKBW about it during an interview.
“My husband was like, ‘That’s ridiculous, you could buy your own camper for that price.’”
Lauren listens to her parents’ ideas. She is convinced that her parents know best. So, her wish immediately shifted to a real camper.
Lauren’s parents show support in purchasing the real camper but they want her to save her own money to buy it.
“Lauren really does have an envelope where she saves money. And it’s just a little bit here and there from things, like $5 at Easter or Tooth Fairy money. It just added up.”
Lauren gets her own camper through her savings.
Finding a good-valued camper has not been that hard for the young girl. It looks like she’s destined to have it. She finds a camper in the area that’s just near their home.
A neighbor down the road is selling a dated camper that’s 20-foot long. And the price is more affordable than the VW bus toy that she wanted.
She has even negotiated the price successfully. The seller closed the deal with Lauren’s price offer.
“He said $500 and I said $400 because that was the money I had in my bank account, and he said, ‘Sold!’” Lauren recalls.
Her parents help her renovate the camper.
Because the camper has been ignored for too long and it’s dated, it requires deep cleaning. Also, they need to spend money to make it look much nicer. They have to add furnishings and achieve a boho-styled camper which is what Lauren wanted.
The young girl works hard to make her tiny house cozy. She does her research and finds inspirations in Pinterest to achieve the kind of interior she wants for her camper. But, her tiny home’s inspiration was from the HGTV show Tiny House Hunters.
Lauren’s little camper looks magnificent inside.
She and her family have transformed the old camper into something marvelous. It comes with four beds and a small comfort room. There is also a cute kitchen and living space.
Lauren gives a wonderful piece of advice to kids her age and even to adults.
“If you’re looking to have some big plans in the future, you should go out and do it. Make it happen.”
Lauren’s parents have helped her learn very important lessons as they create the tiny home. Those are important lessons on spending money and making wiser investments instead of splurging on expensive toys.
The tiny home is something that Lauren can enjoy for a long time.
